How Loss Run Pro is simplifying loss runs for a faster, more reliable insurance workflow
When Reghan Brandt first stepped into insurance operations, she noticed an irony impossible to ignore. The industry thrives on data, yet getting one of its most essential datasets — loss runs — remained painfully manual. Brokers and service teams spent hours chasing documents that should take minutes.
“Loss runs are essential for underwriting, renewals, and quoting,” Brandt says. “But the process to get them? Endless emails, PDFs, and the occasional ‘just checking on this again’ message.” Instead of accepting the frustration as a given, she decided to fix it.
That decision became Loss Run Pro (LRP), a platform built to request, track, and organize loss runs in one streamlined place. It’s a solution rooted not in theory, but in lived operational pain.
Tackling a Problem the Industry Knows Too Well
If automating loss runs were simple, the industry would have solved it long ago. The real barrier is the fragmented U.S. carrier landscape — thousands of carriers, each with their own forms, authentication rules, and response patterns. There is no consistent workflow, which means technology that assumes one will inevitably fall short.
LRP takes the opposite approach. It uses automation where carrier processes are predictable, and pairs it with what Brandt calls a “human-in-the-loop” model — an operational layer that steps in when a carrier needs unique documentation or hands-on follow-up. This hybrid design isn’t automation for automation’s sake; it’s automation that gets the job done. The result is a commodity in the loss run process: reliability.
And when those loss run reports finally arrive — whether PDFs, spreadsheets, screenshots, or what Brandt jokingly calls “carrier hieroglyphics” — LRP standardizes and cleans the data. That transformation turns static documents into usable, structured information that supports better underwriting and reduces back-and-forth across all sides of the transaction.
Why Loss Run Pro Stands Apart
What makes Loss Run Pro different is both the technology and the philosophy behind it. The team built the platform for the real environment brokers operate in — the messy, varied, unpredictable world of carrier workflows.
The platform’s strengths include:
- A realistic, multi-pathway model that mirrors how carriers operate
- A balance of automation and human expertise
- Clean, structured results that plug directly into downstream workflows
For brokers, the impact is immediate and tangible. Requests go out smoothly, follow-ups happen without manual chasing, and returned loss runs are standardized and ready to use. What was once an administrative burden becomes a fast, predictable part of the workflow.
Brokers feel the difference through:
- Speed: faster turnaround times, often hours instead of weeks
- Clarity: consistent formatting for easier handoffs
- Focus: more time spent advising clients instead of tracking documents
As Brandt puts it, the goal is to “take one of the biggest administrative pains in insurance and make it simple, fast, and way less Tylenol-worthy.”
Growth, Validation, and Expanding Impact
Concerns surfaced early that automating loss runs might replace human roles. Brandt is quick to clarify: “The industry runs on relationships and expertise. Our goal isn’t to replace humans, but to remove the tedious work that slows them down.”
The market has embraced that message. More than 7,000 agents have used Loss Run Pro, and the platform now processes over one million loss run requests every quarter. Over 30 of the top 100 U.S. agencies rely on the platform as part of their standard workflow. Customer feedback underscores the platform’s impact: faster turnaround, less follow-up, and teams celebrating the time they’ve regained. In many firms, marketers and account managers now share the tool internally simply because it makes everyone’s job easier.
A Catalyst for Strategy and Leadership
As an inaugural BrokerTech Ventures Accelerator startup, Brandt credits BTV with sharpening LRP’s strategic direction and accelerating its path to market. The program provided critical access to industry leaders who validated the need for a better loss run process and helped the team understand the operational realities inside large agencies.
But the most lasting influence wasn’t product-related. Brandt says BTV shaped her approach to leadership by modeling what it looks like to serve the industry with integrity, humility, and a commitment to supporting the next generation of innovators. That leadership ethos has carried into LRP’s culture and how the company shows up for its partners.
What’s Next
Brandt’s vision for the next chapter is clear: direct, secure carrier integrations that replace email-based processes entirely. “Too much of this information still moves through emails and PDFs,” she says. “We want to become the industry’s default pipes for loss run data.”
The company is also focused on permissioned access by ensuring brokers, carriers, underwriters, and risk managers all receive the right loss information at the right time, with the structure and governance they need. And yes, there’s a milestone on the horizon: when Loss Run Pro reaches 10,000 users, Brandt hints a celebration might be in order — “possibly a party large enough to make our compliance team slightly nervous.”
A Frictionless Future
Loss runs have always been a necessary but dreaded part of insurance. LRP is proving they don’t have to be. By transforming a stubborn legacy process into something simple, reliable, and fast, the company is giving brokers what they need most: time back, clarity forward, and fewer reasons to send one more “just checking on this” email.
